While Canada currently observes Veterans' Week in November, there's a growing sentiment that our veterans deserve more extensive recognition for their sacrifices and service. This focus proposes establishing a full month dedicated to honouring veterans of wars and conflicts, similar to how other groups are commemorated with month-long observances.

Why this matters?

Veterans have given up their lives, limbs, and sometimes even their mental well-being in service to our country. We owe everything to these veterans, including our lives and freedoms. A month-long observance would provide more opportunities to educate the public about veterans' contributions, support veteran-focused initiatives, and show our collective gratitude for their service.

More Details

Currently, Canada observes Veterans' Week from November 5-11, culminating in Remembrance Day on November 11. While these observances are significant, they may not provide sufficient time to fully acknowledge and address the diverse needs and experiences of veterans. A month-long observance could allow for more comprehensive programming, educational initiatives, and support services focused on veterans.
